What Are Concrete Pavers?
Concrete pavers are precast blocks made from cement, sand and aggregate, pressed into shape and cured to form a solid, consistent paving unit. What Are Porcelain Pavers?
Porcelain pavers are a type of ceramic tile produced by firing a highly refined clay mixture at extreme temperatures — typically above 1200 degrees Celsius. The result is an extremely dense, low-porosity tile with very consistent dimensions and colouring. Modern porcelain comes in a vast range of finishes including realistic stone-look, concrete-look and timber-look options, giving homeowners design flexibility that wasn’t available in earlier generations of outdoor paving materials.
Durability and Hardwearing Performance
Both materials are built to last outdoors, but they have different strengths. Porcelain is harder than most natural stone and virtually non-porous, meaning it’s highly resistant to staining, frost and moisture penetration. It’s an excellent choice for areas that see heavy use or significant water exposure. Concrete pavers are also very durable but are more porous, which means they can absorb staining agents. Sealing may be recommended in some applications to help minimise staining and make ongoing maintenance easier.
