Concrete tactile pavers are also known as Tactiles, Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (or TGSI) and even Hazard Pavers are designed to aid the mobility of vision impaired people.
Available in two styles – Cautional (type B paver often referred to as “dots” due to their 3mm dia raised dots) and Directional (type C paver with their 3mm wide raise ribs) both conform to Australian Standard AS 1428.4 (Design for Access and Mobility – Part 4, Tactile Ground Surface Indicators for the orientation of people with vision impairment), and have a slip resistance of Class ‘V’ (best category) when tested according to the Wet Pendulum Test method AS/NZS 4586:2004.
The 300 square size is the most efficient size to meet AS 1428.4 requirements, and the thickness consistency is better than required by AS 4455.1997. These tactile pavers are very durable and made from high strength (In excess of 50MPa) wet cast concrete, and treated with an anti-efflorescence to minimise colour lightening.
Available in a range of 5 colours, there is one to complement every project be it commercial or residential.
