Vertical gardens are a recent trend, quickly growing in popularity. Ideal for small garden areas vertical garden beds take up very little space. They can be easily attached to the walls of balconies, courtyards, patios or fences to provide growing spaces for a wide range of plants and flowers.

When choosing plants for a vertical garden, ensure that you do your research based on the amount of sunlight or shade available and where the garden will be best positioned. Epiphytes or lithophytes, which are plants that naturally grow without soil, work well in a vertical garden. For vertical vegetable gardens, fast-growing, small plants such as soft-heated lettuce, rocket, small chilli plants, strawberries are best. Also suitable would be a wide range of herbs including mint, thyme, tarragon, parsley, and oregano.
